The Pottstown Challenge!

Deadline extended to April 4th! The Greater Pottstown Foundation has challenged us! If we can raise $5,000 for the Althouse Arboretum, the Greater Pottstown Foundation will match it with another $5,000 for special summer programs for at-risk and low-income children at the Arboretum. The money will pay for transportation, program costs, and provide scholarships for our local high school student interns who will run the programs. Dogs Welcome

We’ve seen lots of dogs at the Arboretum and hope they’re enjoying the new place to walk! Other walkers as well as wildlife appreciate that they’re on leashes. Just a reminder about picking up after your pet. Dog waste doesn’t biodegrade like wild animal waste. It stays around for a long time. Meanwhile, it contains harmful bacteria, transmits a number of diseases to our wildlife, pollutes groundwater, and smells bad on the bottom of a shoe. Please help keep parks…

Our First Christmas Tree Recycling

8:30am Saturday morning. 10 degrees. Althouse Arboretum, student volunteers arrived.  9am cars and trucks with trees began arriving. Spark the Wave students from Upper Pottsgrove high school and students from Boyertown high school spent from 9am to 3pm unloading Christmas trees and kept moving to stay as warm as they could.
