Despite the rain, hail, and wind, Dave and I went on a natural landscape tour last weekend facilitated by Edge of the Woods Native Plant Nursery. The tour was at the home of Gary Campbell, a natural landscape designer. Gary and his wife shared their experiences of planning and establishing a meadow, pond, and woods complete with walking paths. The yellow flowering meadow plant, shown in my photograph, is Zizia aurea. The common name is Golden Alexanders.
Susan Tantsits, Edge of the Woods, stressed the importance of planting native plants so that they have a chance of escaping back into the wild since our natural plant communities of Pennsylvania are quickly disappearing.
Please check out Gary’s website which features YouTube videos of his advice and experiences with natural landscapes. http://campbelllandscape.com/
