In 2010, along a quarter-mile stretch of Snyder Road, one of County’s most scenic, designated by the Montgomery County Planning Commission as “aesthetically unique,” contractors had taken down scores of mature hickories, oaks, beeches, dogwoods, and redbuds. Thank You Volunteers!

With less than 48 hours notification and temperatures only slightly above freezing, 13 volunteers showed up on Sunday, December 7th clearing Penns Wood Trail in less than two hours! Middle school students, students from Pottsgrove High School Spark the Wave Club, neighbors and a Township Commissioner all joined in to make short work of a project that would have cost the Arboretum a significant amount of money if we had to pay for it. Family Night Hike

An exciting event last night in Upper Pottsgrove. About 350 people showed up for a Night Hike at the Althouse Arboretum. There were games, storytelling, a scavenger hunt, glow stick-lit trails, snacks, face and pumpkin painting, a marshmallow roast, and prizes for every child. Some children came in costumes, all came with flashlights to explore and find what awaited them.
