Obedient Plant

Obedient Plant

Physotegia virginiana
Common Name: Obedient Plant

This is a native PA plant that blooms June through September! Obedient plant prefers average to moist soils. I have it planted in average soil in a partly sunny location.  I was warned that this plant can spread but I welcome this plant to multiply as it wishes!  I may be passing extras to friends in the next few years. I purchased my Obedient Plants from an Althouse Arboretum native plant sale.

This plant can grow in full sun or part shade, attracts hummingbirds and butterflies and is deer resistant. Th square stem is typical of the mint family.
