GreenAllies

“Sustainability is an approach to look at the world, a critical way to understand and engage with the world, and the method by which we can change that world.”

Ken Hamilton, GreenAllies Executive Director

Althouse Arboretum is the result of a unique collaboration between the private 501c3 nonprofit GreenAllies,  and Upper Pottsgrove Township.

Who is GreenAllies?
The GreenAllies mission is to empower and support students as they become environmental sustainability leaders.  We envision a world where students lead the way to a more livable future by providing student leadership opportunities through service programs that promote a healthier, more sustainable community.

  • Empowering students
  • Driving environmental innovation
  • Creating visionary leaders
  • Changing the world.

That is GreenAllies

GreenAllies is looking to create the next generation of community sustainability leaders. We support and asssist student-driven projects across the country.  We create networking events and programs where students can share ideas and develop environmental leadership skills.  The Althouse Arboretum is our largest project as it is designed to provide regional students an opportunity to be community leaders.

We are backed by a strong Board of Directors looking to drive environmental innovation.  We organized a national network of motivated and committed students and community members willing to volunteer, advise and support student projects throughout the region and across the country. GreenAllies utilizes the farmhouse for its office and base of operations. The upstairs of the house is the office and headquarters and the downstairs dedicated to displays, environmental education, eco friendly gift shop and community gatherings.

All programs, activities, trail work and more is done by GreenAllies through its student leaders and community volunteers. GreenAllies is solely funded by grants and donations.

The GreenAllies founder and Executive Director, Ken Hamilton, is a national-award-winning environmental science educator stated: “Students often don’t appreciate the power they have to change society.  The think of themselves as recipients of their community, not shapers of society.  GreenAllies is dedicated to changing this narrative as it empowers students to take the lead and have the community follow.”
