Volunteer Work Days
We clean, spruce up, work together and have a lot of fun. Join us and bring the family and friends! We hold multiple volunteer work days a year, keep an eye on facebook and the website for dates.
The 2nd and 4th Friday, May through September, 9 – 11 am
Pruning, planting, raking, mulching, watering, and weeding. Come help maintain and further the Arboretum’s beauty while connecting with the Arboretum community. Bring gloves if you have them, if not we’ll provide them. No experience required.
What is flash volunteering?
Flash volunteering is a fun way to get involved when we need help with little notice. Some past flash volunteering opportunities were mulching the low ropes course and planting trees by the pond.
To become a flash volunteer just Sign up with your email and/or phone number. When we have a project we will send out a notice 24 to 48 hours in advance. If you’re available, just show up to help.
Gold Award/Eagle Scout Projects
The Althouse Arboretum has worked with many Ambassadors and Eagle Scouts on their project requirements. For information about possible projects, please contact Ken.
Community Service Projects
The Arboretum welcomes groups of various sizes to volunteer on the grounds and in the gardens. Volunteer groups can assist with invasive species removal, weeding, mulching, litter clean up, building, painting and more. Group projects vary depending on the season and abilities.
