June

Trivia Night

Friday, June 30th           7 pm

Grab a group of friends and join us for a night of fun and trivia in the great outdoors while supporting the Arboretum! We will have 10 rounds of trivia, 2 of them being special lightning rounds. Every group can have up to 8 people and as few as 2. The winning team will take home a trophy and bragging rights.

Tickets are $10 per person. Dessert will be provided.

Nature Storytime and Hike

Saturday, July 8th          10 am      

Come out to the Arboretum for a morning hike and story. A fun family activity for ages 4 – 8.
Meet Chewy Louie at story time and then go on a scavenger hunt to look for his mess!

 

Elephant Ear Casting

Thursday, July 13th         6:30 pm

Elephant Ear (Colocasia) is a plant that is so named because the leaves actually look like the ears of an elephant! We’ll be making Elephant Ear and other leaf castings that you can use for decoration or a bird bath$7 per person (includes cost of supplies)

Grandparents Day Scavenger Hunt

Saturday July 15th     11 – 1 pm
Kids and their grandparents (or parents) can team up for a short hike through the woods finding the special check points and completing activities. Enjoy the day outdoors with your family getting active.                 $5 per person

 

Lost and Found Challenge

Saturday, July 29th         5 – 8 pm

Take a map and complete the adventure course by finding 10 flags along the Sprogel’s Run Trail (1.5 miles). Great chance for families to get active together. This event is best for kids 6 – 12 years old. Start any time between 5pm and 7pm.           $5 per person.

 

 

August

Wilderness Badges

Tuesday, August 15th         5 – 8 pm

 

Complete nature challenges and earn badges. Collect as many as you can then return to the pavilion for snacks!

$5 per child. Start anytime between 5 – 7

 

 

Sunset Hike & Campfire

Saturday, August 26th           7 pm

Celebrate National Toasted Marshmallow Day with a guided hike through the forested trails, then after sunset, enjoy a campfire and s’mores! Bring a flashlight for a night-time scavenger hunt.             $5 per person

Nature Exploration Series

Last Wednesday of every month (April – October)     6:30 – 7:30 pm

This is a free family education program with a different theme each month!
We will dive into an exciting nature topic with an activity and/or a short hike. See you here, rain or shine!

Gardening Fridays

The 2nd and 4th Friday, May through September,  9 – 11 am

Pruning, planting, raking, mulching, watering, and weeding. Come help maintain and further the Arboretum’s beauty while connecting with the Arboretum community.
Bring gloves if you have them, if not we’ll provide them. No experience required.
